RESEARCH PROJECTS

ACTIVE PROJECTS

Defense, Technology and Future Studies (coordinator: Prof. Héctor Luis Saint-Pierre) — Program to Support Teaching and Scientific and Technological Research in National Defense — PRÓ-DEFESA, carried out by a partnership between the Ministry of Defense and CAPES. It analyzes the obstacles to technological autonomy in Brazil in the three sectors considered strategic for national defense (nuclear, cybernetic, and space) under international hegemonic disputes, considering future scenarios to encompass alternatives for action in the present.

The PPGRI participates in the Networks for Institutional Internationalization Program (CAPES-Global), which fosters cooperation networks between national institutions with internationalization stages to promote the development of participants’ strategic research and graduate activities via international cooperations. The PPGRI has partnerships with national institutions from several Brazilian regions under varying internationalization stages, building, implementing, and consolidating internationalization plans for the Program and promoting international experience for graduate students, researchers, professors, and technicians and bringing foreign researchers to activities in Brazil.

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

Individuals may act as visiting researchers or collaborators, subject to the approval of the Program Councils and IPPRI/Unesp. More information can be obtained via email: relinter@unesp.br

The Program is linked to the Unesp IPPRI, which works to preserve, develop, and disseminate interdisciplinary scientific knowledge in the areas that make up its structure and institutional scope: public policies and International Relations. It has stricto and lato sensu graduate courses, research centers, and the UNESCO Chair in Territorial Development and Education for The Countryside to contribute to its development and the best use of the opportunities arising from its activities. By the research it conducts and the courses, conferences, and seminars it organizes, the IPPRI seeks to promote the training and improvement of human resources and the exchange and cooperation between researchers in Public Policy, International Relations, and related areas. The institute also seeks to establish partnerships and exchanges with other national and international public or private institutions in its scope of activity.

INCENTIVES FOR INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION

The Program encourages professors and students to participate in international research networks and submit proposals for calls for missions abroad and funding for foreign researchers to come to Brazil.

The tradition of international cooperation includes Universidade Nacional de La Plata (Argentina), Universidade Nacional da Colômbia, Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Universidad de la República (Uruguay), Universidad Complutense de Madrid e Universidade Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal), Georgetown University (US), the University of Calgary (Canada), the University of Queensland (Australia), the University of Warwick (United Kingdom), and the Institute for Latin American Studies da Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (China), among others.
