ADMISSION

Entry requirements for foreign applicants

Foreign students can enter the Program in two ways:

- Regular selection process, which takes place once a year, usually in the second semester.

- Direct admission.

Required documentation

To participate in the regular selection process students must present their undergraduate transcript, certificate of completion or graduation diploma, certificate of proficiency in English - if any; Lattes curriculum, research project, master’s academic transcript (in the case of enrollment in the doctorate), identity card, CPF number, voter registration, reservist certificate (for male candidates); and self-declaration (completed in accordance with Annex B of the selection notice), if applicable.

For direct admission foreign students must present their undergraduate transcript, certificate of completion or graduation diploma, certificate of proficiency in English (if any and for candidates with a mother tongue other than English); curriculum, research project, master’s transcript (in the case of doctoral registration), and passport.

STAGES OF THE SELECTION PROCESS 

Foreign candidates who did not complete their undergraduate studies in Brazil or do not reside in the country can apply for direct admission at any time, bypassing the traditional selection process. Applications will be evaluated by the Graduate Program coordinator, who will communicate the final decision. This decision is final and cannot be appealed.

 

For the Master’s Program:

  • Updated CV

  • Research project (maximum of 20 pages)

  • Undergraduate degree completion certificate

  • Identity document (ID)

 

For the Doctoral Program:

  • Updated CV

  • Research project (maximum of 20 pages)

  • Undergraduate degree completion certificate

  • Master’s degree certificate

  • Two letters of recommendation

  • Identity document (ID)

If accepted, foreign candidates must submit a declaration from their home country’s relevant authorities confirming sufficient financial resources for self-support during their studies. Scholarships offered by the program are exclusively available to candidates admitted through the traditional selection process.

COSTS AND FINANCING 

The course is free, requiring no fees.

The PPGRI awards scholarships from Brazilian funding agencies to students following pre-defined criteria. Approval in the selection process fails to guarantee a scholarship.

Students may directly apply for scholarships at the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). The Foundation’s website contains the rules for scholarship applications.

We suggest that students follow the notices of the Vice-Presidency for Graduate Studies of Unesp regarding socioeconomic aid and other types of support.
